We believe that nature is for everyone. At Valley Outdoors, inclusion isn’t an add-on - it’s at the heart of what we do. Whether you’re paddling, walking, learning, or simply being outside, we’re here to make sure the outdoors feels like home - for every body, every ability, every story. 

Nature Doesn’t Discriminate, And Neither Do We 

Everyone deserves to feel the sun on their skin, to hear the rush of river water, to feel the warmth of connection to outdoor activities. At Valley Outdoors, we know that the benefits of nature should be available to everyone - not just the most able-bodied or experienced. 

That’s why accessibility and inclusion are woven into everything we offer. This isn’t just about ticking boxes. It’s about shifting culture, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and listening to what people need to feel safe and seen in the outdoors.

Canoe camping might sound bold - but it’s more accessible than you think. That’s the beauty of Kangaroo Valley’s wilderness Because we’ve seen what nature does for people. 

We’ve seen non-verbal children giggle in canoes. We’ve seen teens with autism find quiet confidence on bushwalks. We’ve seen elders rediscover joy while floating down the river. 

We believe that nature heals, connects, teaches and that it must be made accessible to all. 

How We Support Accessibility and Inclusion 

We provide: 

• Quiet spaces and calm environments for neurodivergent people 

• Assistance with transfers in and out of canoes 

• Modified seating options for canoes and land-based activities 

• Sensory-friendly experiences and slower-paced programs 

• Wheelchair-friendly access at key starting locations 

• Supportive, trained staff who meet you where you are 

• Gender-inclusive bathrooms and free period care products onsite 

• NDIS invoice-ready support for eligible experiences 

We also partner with carers, educators, support workers and therapists to create tailored programs for individuals and groups. 

What Inclusive Adventures Can Look Like  

• A sensory-focused nature walk with time to pause, touch, and breathe 

• A BIG Canoe journey where up to 14 people paddle together, allowing extra support and shared energy 

• A riverside picnic with gentle movement or mindfulness 

• A BIG Canoe Tour adapted to suit wheelchairs or limited mobility 

• A family experience where inclusion is modelled, welcomed and expected
