Paddle Making Workshop

Handcraft your very own Canadian-style canoe paddle.

Shape your own otter- or beavertail paddle in this unique three-day workshop. Learn the traditional craft of paddle making and take home a beautiful, functional wooden paddle of your own.

Crafted by You. Guided by Tradition.

A hands-on, heritage-inspired workshop.

Over three days, you’ll use traditional tools and techniques to transform a single piece of timber into a canoe paddle. You’ll learn about paddle design, sizing, care, and finishing. No prior experience or equipment is needed – we provide everything, including protective gear.

The workshop concludes with a celebratory paddle on the Kangaroo River, where you’ll put your handcrafted paddle to use.

WHAT THEY SAID

PREV NEXT
"I was excited to learn the art of making a canoe paddle, but I never realised how therapeutic it was going to feel to take time out for myself to do this workshop. It was almost meditative putting in the time and effort into crafting something so beautiful and functional, and now I get to use it every time I go for a paddle!"
"At the start, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to make anything useful as I've never done any timberwork and I'm not much of a paddler. The help that I received through the building process made me realise that anyone can gain the skills to make themselves an amazing paddle. And mine works way better than I thought it would!"
